Taylor Russell McKenzie was born on July 18, 1994 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was raised in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. [1][22 Russell was born to the black father and white mother, is bi-racial and grew up primarily with her mother's family. Her skin shade made her feel rejected in her youth. Her parents were struggling financially and were forced to move 16 times to pursue her father's job. In spite of this, Russell mentioned how in her younger days "there was always an opportunity for re-invention, to make something new."As as a young person, Russell was already artistically at first. she was interested in pursuing a career in ballet and later to become a painter. Russell was just 18 when she began her first acting class. She used her earnings from work to buy a car and drove to Los Angeles, to audition. She would go back to work once her savings ran out , before auditioning again. This process continued for four years before she was offered her first big TV appearance.
